{"id":99,"date":"2014-05-22T08:34:00","date_gmt":"2014-05-22T13:34:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogtest.cowebtech.ca\/?p=99"},"modified":"2019-10-02T14:39:36","modified_gmt":"2019-10-02T19:39:36","slug":"nara","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.cowell.ca\/?p=99","title":{"rendered":"Nara"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I visited Nara today as a day trip from Kyoto. &nbsp;There is a direct train that takes about 45 minutes. &nbsp;It&#8217;s not as fast as the Shinkensen, but still quite nice for the 45 minute journey.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Nara was the capital of Japan before it was Kyoto, so a long long time ago. &nbsp;As such there are quite a few historical sites. &nbsp;Perhaps more unique though, it&#8217;s full of deer.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/-DnDNtin1AoA\/U322g_Z5BgI\/AAAAAAAAGDo\/LCgc1U8Zi8k\/s1600\/blogger-image-1879162027.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/-DnDNtin1AoA\/U322g_Z5BgI\/AAAAAAAAGDo\/LCgc1U8Zi8k\/s1600\/blogger-image-1879162027.jpg\"><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\">This one is posing in front of a warning sign, reminding you that deer are wild animals and you should be careful. &nbsp;All over the place they sell deer biscuits for 150 yen so you can feed the things!<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\">\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/-YAo54JFXjsA\/U322f8adb7I\/AAAAAAAAGDg\/hC6bkWTvCFY\/s1600\/blogger-image--431545176.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/-YAo54JFXjsA\/U322f8adb7I\/AAAAAAAAGDg\/hC6bkWTvCFY\/s1600\/blogger-image--431545176.jpg\"><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\">It&#8217;s interesting to watch people feed them. &nbsp;They are very happy when they feed the deer, but less happy after they run out of biscuits and the deer is chasing them down the street! &nbsp;Children seem quite traumatized with a deer chasing them \ud83d\ude42<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\">Nara is home to Japan&#8217;s largest Buddha which is one of the largest in the world. &nbsp;The picture does not even do it justice, if you are in this area you must really see it for yourself.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\">\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/-4ouO-0GTJKs\/U322iN93opI\/AAAAAAAAGDw\/veYTKrCa0io\/s1600\/blogger-image--343450447.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/-4ouO-0GTJKs\/U322iN93opI\/AAAAAAAAGDw\/veYTKrCa0io\/s1600\/blogger-image--343450447.jpg\"><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\">The enterance fee is 500 yen and I am sure this one is worth it. &nbsp;I even bought a postcard! &nbsp;Outside is the Buddhist God of health. &nbsp;A rather scary looking statue with a red jacket and bonnet on.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\">\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/-TZPAXJLAtl8\/U322jEfO6ZI\/AAAAAAAAGD4\/9CFqQTr25l0\/s1600\/blogger-image--536043088.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/-TZPAXJLAtl8\/U322jEfO6ZI\/AAAAAAAAGD4\/9CFqQTr25l0\/s1600\/blogger-image--536043088.jpg\"><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\">The area is great for hiking, there are many temples along the way, with a lot of them being free or low cost. &nbsp;Nara JR station is 45 minutes from Kyoto station on the JR Nara line. &nbsp;There is also a private railway line that is a but faster, but not valid for rail pass holders.<\/div>\n<p><\/div>\n<p><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<p><\/div>\n<p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I visited Nara today as a day trip from Kyoto. &nbsp;There is a direct train that takes about 45 minutes. &nbsp;It&#8217;s not as fast as the Shinkensen, but still quite nice for the 45 minute journey.
