{"id":82,"date":"2014-06-03T08:26:00","date_gmt":"2014-06-03T13:26:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogtest.cowebtech.ca\/?p=82"},"modified":"2019-10-03T08:56:11","modified_gmt":"2019-10-03T13:56:11","slug":"nay-pyi-daw","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.cowell.ca\/?p=82","title":{"rendered":"Nay Pyi Daw"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nay Pyi Daw is the new capital city of Myanmar, it was moved several years ago from Yangon. &nbsp;It&#8217;s on the Yangon-Mandaley highway and is not a bad place to overnight if you want a break instead of taking an overnight bus, train, or flight. &nbsp;It&#8217;s also pretty close to Thazi, the jump off point for Inle lake.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/-n6OfM3pXPb8\/U42GmqwW3pI\/AAAAAAAAGj4\/n9jfORTSxiE\/s1600\/blogger-image-1831376751.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/-n6OfM3pXPb8\/U42GmqwW3pI\/AAAAAAAAGj4\/n9jfORTSxiE\/s1600\/blogger-image-1831376751.jpg\"><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\">This is parliament, and it&#8217;s as close as you can get unless you have business here. &nbsp;It&#8217;s really in the middle of nowhere. &nbsp;This city seems to be built to be spread out on purpose so you can&#8217;t walk anywhere and people can keep track of you. &nbsp;To get to parliament, you drive on a 20 lane highway with no other cars.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\">\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/-E0dZbV-ypKM\/U42GiH1GOLI\/AAAAAAAAGjk\/ZAN95zLOinA\/s1600\/blogger-image-1395949551.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/-E0dZbV-ypKM\/U42GiH1GOLI\/AAAAAAAAGjk\/ZAN95zLOinA\/s1600\/blogger-image-1395949551.jpg\"><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\">Other than parliament, there is a reconstruction (copy) of Shewagon pagoda in Yangon. &nbsp;There is also a zoo, with many animals moved from Yangon. &nbsp;The place is interesting as I was one of the few people there, and the only foreigner.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\">\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/-Rb2F77I6YPM\/U42GjoHFg_I\/AAAAAAAAGjs\/uHxZYYVbvmY\/s1600\/blogger-image--1863819685.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/-Rb2F77I6YPM\/U42GjoHFg_I\/AAAAAAAAGjs\/uHxZYYVbvmY\/s1600\/blogger-image--1863819685.jpg\"><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\">They have a medium sized facility with two penguins. &nbsp;Overall they seem to be healthy and well fed. &nbsp;They also have an elephant camp. &nbsp;Burma is one of the few countries left in the world that uses elephants domestically to work the land. &nbsp;I&#8217;m not sure I agree with the practice, but for now it is what it is.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\">\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/-BII_HqqauK4\/U42GlUAjr1I\/AAAAAAAAGj0\/JL4BiRr0TkE\/s1600\/blogger-image--2097355904.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/-BII_HqqauK4\/U42GlUAjr1I\/AAAAAAAAGj0\/JL4BiRr0TkE\/s1600\/blogger-image--2097355904.jpg\"><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\">Again, they seem healthy with lots of space to run around in. &nbsp;There are paddle boats and a children&#8217;s play park, but with nobody there, it just sits empty.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\">\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/-lKFUSdwg9Ww\/U42GoLfHZPI\/AAAAAAAAGkE\/Q0wflvQ-J7o\/s1600\/blogger-image--253797106.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em;
