{"id":30,"date":"2017-11-28T14:20:00","date_gmt":"2017-11-28T19:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogtest.cowebtech.ca\/?p=30"},"modified":"2019-10-02T14:15:31","modified_gmt":"2019-10-02T19:15:31","slug":"huayna-picchu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.cowell.ca\/?p=30","title":{"rendered":"Huayna Picchu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you entered Machu Picchu from Aguas Calientes and you had a good nights sleep and are well rested &#8211; or if you entered Machu Picchu from the Inca trail and woke up at 3am to get to the sun gate &#8211; you should consider hiking Hyayna Picchu (it&#8217;s pronounced Wayna Picchu) for sweeping views of the site (and an elevated heart rate!)<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/-gUdO0uSX82M\/Wh1wkbYip9I\/AAAAAAAAQZM\/7YedmHkEaCoWzxkON2S1QWKqEV31qZSbQCHMYCw\/s1600\/blogger-image--682055652.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/-gUdO0uSX82M\/Wh1wkbYip9I\/AAAAAAAAQZM\/7YedmHkEaCoWzxkON2S1QWKqEV31qZSbQCHMYCw\/s1600\/blogger-image--682055652.jpg\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p>On the right you see Huayna Picchu. &nbsp;Doesn&#8217;t it look like an easy hike?<\/p><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Unfortunately you cannot hike it on a whim as they only allow 400 hikers per day and they sell out quickly (people seem to like paying for pain around here). &nbsp;I suggest you take 2L of water with you and some salty snacks.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>After doing 45km I (along with several other hikers from my group) was convinced that this would be a walk in the park. &nbsp;I mean we ascended 1000m in Dead Women&#8217;s pass, how hard could this be?<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>It&#8217;s very steep. &nbsp;In fact, some sections are almost vertical where there are ropes to help you. &nbsp;Allow 45 minutes to one hour to get to the top with frequent breaks to catch your breath. &nbsp;Be aware that there are steep cliffs and no safety rails, so be careful.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/-EfU1T9A5l38\/Wh1wmvySaWI\/AAAAAAAAQZQ\/rumzRQsHwnEDwUDUW4oFdJZkgLa3sO8PACHMYCw\/s1600\/blogger-image-405525041.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/-EfU1T9A5l38\/Wh1wmvySaWI\/AAAAAAAAQZQ\/rumzRQsHwnEDwUDUW4oFdJZkgLa3sO8PACHMYCw\/s1600\/blogger-image-405525041.jpg\"><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\">That&#8217;s me on the top showing off the Alpaca Expeditions shirt.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;\">Personally, I think it&#8217;s worth it because every time I see a picture of Machu Picchu now and I see Huayna Picchu mountain towering over it, I can say that I got to the highest point!
